Grumpy products for a grumpy gardener

Now my Wife and Girls will completely agree with the fact that i am grumpy a lot of the time. So i was very pleased to learn that there is a range of gardening product called the Grumpy Gardener ideal for me and any other Grumpy folk out there. The Grumpy Gardener Range is produced by Grean Base you may remember them from Dragons Den with there wheel barrow booster. They now have a whole range of gardening products sold under the Grumpy Gardener Name I have been trying out one of there products this week The Grow Grid.
The Grow Grid is a woven polypropylene sheet with ready cut out 75mm holes to plant through. The holes have been cut out using heat so you will not get any frayed edges. The sheet it's self is 1.5m x 2m now i have been trying out Grow Grid size D which has 77 holes in it there are another 3 sizes available with a different number of holes in each. Each pack also comes with six pegs t help secure it to the ground and stop it blowing away.
I placed the Grow Grid on one of my new raised beds unfortunately the grid was slightly wider than the bed So i had to tuck the sides into the soil it was then pegged down to the soil to stop it blowing away. Now as i was planting out spring cabbage ideally i should have used one of the other Grids but all i did to get around this was miss out a row. Now when we first laid the Grow Grid it is a bit bumpy but as soon we watered the bed it flattened out and seemed to stick to the bed. But why go to the expense of the Grow Grid instead of just planting straight in to the ground. Well no one likes weeding for starters Grow Grid smothers all weeds so saving you hours of weeding. The Grow Grid also prevents water evaporating from the soil so reducing the need for so much watering. I would defiantly recommend this product to any veg grower as it will save you loads of time that you would have normally spent weeding and watering. Giving you more time to spend doing other gardening jobs in your garden or you could just put your feet up in front of the telly.

Jayes Fluid Keeping Your Garden Clean

If there is one smell that reminds me of my Grandads shed then that is Jeyes Fluid. It's has got that distinctive smell that only Jeyes fluid has. It has been a long time since i have used Jeyes Fluid so it was great to be able to give it a try again.
The original Jeyes fluid has been around for years and was always the first choice for gardeners to use. Whether they where wanting to clean there greenhouse at the end of the season or for cleaning the drains when there was a bit of a smell. My Dad would always us it for cleaning out the greenhouse getting in to all the corners with a scrubbing brush to get it all clean before the new growing season. I have been using it on one of the drains by my house the one that comes out of the kitchen every so often it gives off a smell more that likely blocked food and fat. But since putting down neat original Jeyes fluid we have not had a problem with any smell and the drain seems to be flowing a lot better. I will defiantly be using Jeyes Fluid down the drain more regularly so that they always flow smoothly and not wait for the bad smell or blockage.
Jeyes fluid also now comes in a ready to use bottle so no more measuring or mixing to be done. You can still use it the same as the original Jeyes fluid just with out the messy mixing but if you are wanting to clean drains you will still need the concentrate of the original Jeyes fluid.
Patio Power is new to the Jeyes fluid family designed to remove dirt, algae and mildew from all hard surfaces with out the need to scrub. Which is brilliant as most other patio cleaners require a degree of scrubbing it is also pressure washer compatible. It your pressure washer has a detergent bottle just fill it up with Patio Power and clean as you would do normally. Patio Power also kill's 99.9% of all germs so you could almost eat your dinner off your patio once you have cleaned it with Patio Power although i would not recommend it. Every house should have a bottle of Jeyes fluid in the cupboard ready for all your outdoor cleaning needs.

Jeyes have made lots of videos to show you how to use Jeyes fluid on their Youtube channel.

For more details on the Jeyes fluid range visit their website.

Available from all good garden centers and hard ware shops.

Hozelock Pico Reel Review

While the sun has been shining and the ground is dry i have been out in the garden testing out the new Hozelock Pico Reel. This is one of the lightest hose pipes i have ever used it weighs less than two bags of sugar so it would be great for the elderly as there is no dragging big clumsy hoses round the garden not now there is the Pico Reel.
Pico Reel
The Pico Reel has been built to very high standards as you would expect from a Hozelock product everything is lovely and smooth. It is also British made this is not something you see much these days which makes it an even better reason to buy.
The Pico Reel comes ready assembled so there is nothing to put together you just need to attach it to your tap and water away. The Pico Reel comes with 10m of hose which should be enough for the average garden it is also very compact so will store away easily. As the hose is so light it dose not seem to cause damage to plants so much when you pull the hose to hard and pull in over your plants which conventional hose's seem to do. The spray gun has five settings from a shower to a full blast of water so is ideal for most garden uses or just washing the car. The Pico Reel is also really easy to wind up with a very easy smooth winder the Pico Reel also comes with a two year guarantee so there is no need to worry about it breaking.

We would defiantly recommend the New Hozelock Pico Reel to anyone with a small garden it would also be great for a greenhouse or polytunnel as well.

It is available to buy from most good garden retailers prices range from £25.00 - £29.99 so look around to get the best price.
